Admission

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF GETTING ADMITTED AT TMH?

  • Through OPD doctor prescription/advice on Medical book
  • Through emergency
  • Through the labor room
  • If a patient coming from outside referral then he/she has to get it signed by the emergency/OPD doctor & doctor's prescription is attached in case sheet.
  • From external source directly when patient has prescription of TMH doctor from outside (private)

I /MY PATIENT WAS GETTING TREATMENT FROM A PARTICULAR DOCTOR BUT NOW THE ADMISSION IS DONE AGAINST ANOTHER DOCTOR/UNIT?

In some departments where units are there like medicine, Ortho, Gynae, Surgery, admissions are done against units in emergency cases and certain days are fixed for them. If a patient wants to get transferred to a separate unit then he/she /party has to write an application to the CMIS for the same.

WHY A PATIENT IS ADMITTED AS A MEDICO LEGAL CASE?

Cases with a history of fall from height, Rail/road traffic accident, burn, head injury, poisoning, animal bite including human bite, physical assault, rape etc. are admitted against Medico legal case as per law. If you have any further queries you may approach the RMO’s office.

WE WANT TO ADMIT OUR PATIENT THROUGH INSURANCE /DO YOU HAVE CASHLESS ADMISSION FOR HEALTH INSURANCE HOLDERS?

Cash less admission is not entertained at TMH as we do not have tie up with any insurance and TPA company and disclaimers are there regarding same. The patient has to be admitted and can settle the final bill and can process for reimbursement. We may not be in a position to fulfill all criteria for settlement of claims

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AMOUNT TO BE DEPOSITED FOR ADMISSIONS/IS THERE ANY AMOUNT TO BE DEPOSITED AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION?

There are different amount to be deposited for different wards/areas of admission

  • General ward: Rs 5000
  • BCU/ICU/CCU/Cath Lab/ Labor room: Rs 20000
  • Observation Ward: Rs 1500

I/WE DO NOT HAVE THE SAID AMOUNT AT PRESENT, WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

We do Accept Debit/Credit Card so you can deposit through that mode of payment. You can approach the CMIS office (ADMINISTRATION BLOCK ROOM NO 8) for consideration along with assurance in writing that they will deposit the pending amount and clear the bill. This can be done through the CMIS office from 9 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 6 pm after that admitting doctor has to advise in writing on prescription that patient can be admitted with less amount.

I /WE ARE NEW TO TMH AND CAME FOR TREATMENT WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO GET ADMISSION?

If the patient is coming for first time then his/her MR no is created through OPD cash counter which is valid for life time and has to consult OPD by getting an appointment. If the patient comes in an emergency then help line people will get the details and generate MR number and send them to the respective zone for consultation.

I AM REFERRED FROM RM LOCATION TO TMH FOR TREATMENT, HOW SHOULD I PROCEED?

If you/patient have been sent to OPD then book an appointment through the call center and come accordingly. If sent to the emergency department show the medical book and referral letter at the emergency help desk and they will guide you. Once a doctor writes admission then show the medical book and referral letter at admission counter.

Discharge

WHAT IS THE APPROX. TIME FOR DISCHARGE PROCESS?

After order by physician during rounds it takes 3-4 hours as discharge summary has to be typed and final bill needs to be processed.

I AM A PAYING PATIENT AND DISCHARGE IS ORDERED, HOW SHOULD I PROCEED?

For paying patient, doctor advice discharge and summary is prepared, DR is raised and the party is given an interim bill receipt to be paid at main accounts in the emergency dept. After showing the final bill receipt stamped PAID by accounts in ward, discharge summary is handed over.

MY DISCHARGE IS DELAYED OR CANCELLED, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY

Decision of discharge is taken either during morning rounds (9 am to 11 am) or evening round (3: 30 pm to 5 pm), the doctor may hold discharge for some pending reports to come or depending on patient condition. Please talk to the doctor during /after evening round for proper update.

I WANT TO DISCHARGE MY PATIENT

You can do so. Patient can take DAMA (Discharge against Medical Advice) of his /her own. (Depending on their personal concerns). You have to sign the DAMA form in the ward. Please approach the nursing station and inform DOD.

WILL I GET ANY DOCUMENT REGARDING TREATMENT AT TMH?

At the time of discharge, Discharge summary, blood investigation reports, copy of MRI/CT report and film is given, in MLC cases the film is kept with medical records.
