Radiology

Overview

The Department of Radiology and Imaging at Tata Main Hospital started with an X-Ray machine in 1931 and now using state-of-the-art equipment, provides expert diagnostic and interventional services to support the clinical needs of our hospital & plays a major role in imparting quality health care services to the citizens of Jamshedpur and its periphery like Chandil, Purulia, Ghatshila, Chaibasa etc.

Tata Main Hospital is the first hospital in eastern India to install PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and Digital Radiology & is also one of the foremost in India to be totally filmless. Doctors all over the hospital can see the X-Rays, CT scan & MRI images within minutes.

All types of Radiographic procedures and ultrasounds are performed on state of art ultrasound and DR systems. Two CT scan Machines (32 slice & 128 slice) and Two MRI machines (1.5 T & 3.0T ) cater patients from TMH & MTMH.  40% of the patients are Non-Tata Steel employees and their families. TMH is the only Radiology Centre in Jamshedpur & Jharkhand to do interventional procedures like Image guided catheter drainage, Percutaneous Nephrostomy (PCN), Percutaneous Trans hepatic Biliary Drainage (PTBD), Biopsies, Enteroclysis, Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) etc. These are difficult and lifesaving procedures which are done regularly in TMH.

The Department of Radiology of TMH is characterized by the strength of its clinical leadership; its continuing effort toward technological advancements, and its ongoing organizational evolution and resource development to ensure that it is optimally structured and equipped to meet present and future medical and scientific challenges.
