Overview

We are a team of otorhinolaryngologists having vast teaching and post PG experience, specializing in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a full spectrum of ear, nose and throat disorders, as well as areas within the head and neck. With a commitment to providing the highest quality care and the most advanced treatments at affordable cost, the specialists are uniquely qualified to treat each condition individually. Our hospital is well equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical instruments, specialized for ENT care and treatment.

Clinical objectives are attained through close collaboration with the specialties of neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonology, radiology, anaesthesia, internal medicine, radiotherapy, oncology, nuclear medicine. We also share our thoughts and have case discussions in the regular Clinical meetings/CME held in our hospital. A DNB training programme is being successfully conducted for the past many years & successful candidates are doing excellent ENT practice. The faculty and PG are regularly attending/organising local & national scientific conferences as speakers, co- ordinates & surgical demonstrators.

Facilities


Facilities in OPD as day care procedures:

  • Short surgical procedures done regularly include:
    • Ear lobule repair
    • Nasal packing for nose bleed - anterior and posterior
    • Removal of foreign bodies from ear/nose/throat
    • Wound repair of accidental/trauma/assault injuries
  • Endoscopy room for Flexible Nasopharyngolaryngoscopy to examine nose, nasopharynx and larynx in cases of
    • Difficulty in Swallowing
    • Hoarseness of voice
    • Difficulty in breathing
  • Flexible Oesophageal Endoscopy (for the diagnosis of difficulty in swallowing/ Oesophageal pathology)

Audiology and speech services -

  • Pure Tone Audiometry (for the evaluation of hearing & associated disorders)
  • Hearing evaluation with the help of audiometer/tympanometer is done routinely for suspected hearing loss in all age groups. For the purpose we have a dedicated sound proof room in the OPD. Masking therapy for tinnitus & speech therapy for various types of speech disorders are also available.
  • Free field Audiometry
  • Speech Audiometry.
  • Conditioned Response Audiometry.
  • Behaviour Response Audiometry.
  • Tympanometry (for specific evaluation of hearing, localized to the part of ear)
  • Acoustic Immittance Studies including Stapedial reflex, Reflex decay, Eustachian tube function test (ETF1 & ETF2).
  • Special Tests of Hearing: SISI, Tone Decay Threshold, STAT, DLI, DLF, ABLB, MLB, MLD, MCL, UCL Loudness Scaling. Electrophysiological evaluation of hearing through Brain Stem Evoked Response Audiometry, for threshold of Hearing Estimation & Otoneurological diagnosis in collaboration with neurology lab.
  • Tests for pseudohypacusis.
  • Otto-acoustic emission (for screening of hearing in a new born)

Assessment Evaluation and Treatment of Speech, Language and Voice Disorders:

  • Speech therapy for delay in speech and language children.
  • Voice disorders: Puberphonia, Androphonia, Hoarseness/Harshness/ Breathiness of voice, voice disorder due to trauma, Hypo nasality/Hyper nasality of voice, Prophylaxis for professional voice users, Laryngectomee rehabilitation.
  • Fluency disorders: Stuttering/Stammering, cluttering.
  • Articulation disorders.
  • Cleft palate speech rehabilitation.
  • Neurogenic speech and language disorders
  • Testing and management of BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) are done.
  • Among the various MOT procedures, apart from routine, different surgeries performed in the
    ENT area are -
    • Endoscopies Rigid - done especially in patients with
    • Foreign body removal in wind & food pipe.

Ear

  • Micro-ear reconstructive surgery with operating microscope/ oto-endoscope, for hearing improvement & closure of eardrum
    Perforation - Tympanoplasties.
  • Mastoidectomies - for chronic discharge.

Nose

  • Diagnostic / therapeutic nasal surgeries in cases of nasal obstruction
  • Sinus Surgery
  • Correction of external or internal nasal deformity (rhinoplasty)
  • Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (for sinusitis) & Endoscopic Dacrocystorhinostomy with Microdebrider system

Throat

  • Micro-laryngeal surgery for voice problem -speech disorders & hoarseness of voice (apart from Routine tonsil/ adenoid and other surgeries).
  • DISE (Drug induced sleep endoscopy)

Head & Neck Surgery -

  • Excision of neoplasia (tumors/growth) at different sites managing retropharyngeal & parapharyngeal abscesses. RFA (Radiofrequency ablation surgery) - makes it a blood less procedure with no sutures for various superficial lesions of face, neck, tongue, cheek. In cases of snoring - uvuloplasty, uvuloplalatoplasty, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, Reduction of bulk of base of tongue.
  • Oesophagoscopy (rigid) - diagnostic / therapeutic, Bronchoscopy (rigid) for foreign body removal in wind and food pipe.
